Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 Board of Education met Oct. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President James Satorius. Roll call was answered as indicated. Others present were: Kris Monn, Josh Ruland, Mary Robinson, Tiffany Staab, Denise Kalina and Lori Shanholtzer.

2. Public Comment 

2.01 Comments from Employees and Public 

None

3. Review of the Agenda

3.01 Personnel - Dr. Monn went over the personnel report with the Board. 

3.02 Notice of FOIA Requests - There were no FOIA requests. 

3.03 Disposal of Surplus Property - There was two buses, one van, old MJHS scoreboard and various MJHS uniforms that were listed for disposal 

3.04 Board Policy 4-190: Targeted School Violence Prevention Program - Dr. Ruland shared board policy 4-190 Targeted School Violence Prevention Program with the Board. He stated that the education committee went over the new plan. Vicki Allen stated that the committee did a great job on developing the process.

3.05 Overview of FY2019 Audit - Mary Robinson stated that the audit is all complete and the auditors will be at the regular meeting to present to the Board. She stated that all went smooth and there are no changes to audit. 

3.06 2020 Employee Benefit Plan Renewal - Mary Robinson went over the 2020 Employee Benefit Plan Renewal figures. The Insurance Committee will be recommending no increases in fees. There were minor changes from the insurance committee. 

3.07 Preliminary 2019 Tax Levy - Mary Robinson shared her preliminary 2019 tax levy. Detailed information is in the electronic board packet. 

3.08 Facilities Planning - Dr. Monn reported that he would like to hire a tomographer for approx. $2,500 to update the district enrollments. He stated that they can provide the district with accurate information on the enrollments. Dr. Monn also reported that he would like to have some upgrades done at the MJHS building and is working with the architects to get some ideas. This information will be brought back to the Board.

4. Transportation - Update 

Dr. Monn stated that we are fully staffed at transportation. We have an ongoing issue with our bus cameras and he will be looking into having some quotes done to upgrade.

5. Operations And Maintenance - Update 

Dr. Monn reported that MES playground should be installed soon. He stated that he is letting PTO lead in organizing and event to open the new playground. He will be having the B&G staff work with our community to get some type of plaque made in honor of the original playground.

6. Technology – Update 

Dr. Ruland reported that we will have some teachers reporting at the November board meeting on how the 1:1 technology is going.

7. Board of Education Topics 

Dr. Monn reported that due to the volume of students the nurse sees at MJHS and MIS we made need to hire additional nursing staff. He is getting some data and will report back to the Board on.

It was recommended that we include John Clucas in the Triple I conference this year since he is the treasurer and the Board agreed to.

Moved by Thompson, seconded by Karceski to adjourn the Committee of the Whole Meeting at 6:59 p.m. Aye: Thompson, Karceski, Allen, Conquest, Fisher Motion Carried at 6:59 p.m.
