State Rep. David Allen Welter (R-Morris) received the Friend of Agriculture award from the Illinois Farm Bureau.

"Honored to accept the 'Friend of Agriculture' award from the Farm Bureau," Welter said on social media. "Farmers and farm families are the backbone of Illinois’ agricultural economy."

Welter said he appreciated the recognition.

"It is truly a privilege to advocate for them at the state level," Welter said. "I would like to express my appreciation to the members and leadership of the Farm Bureau for this award in recognition of my voting record in support of Illinois’ ag industry."

Other House Republicans receiving the same award were Reps. Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport), Steve Reick (R-Woodstock), Avery Bourne (R-Morrisonville) and Tom Demmer (R-Dixon).
