On July 13, Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) joined Illinois Department of Agriculture director Jerry Castello to speak with her Agriculture Advisory Committee at Stewart Farms in Yorkville.

“Adding another gold star next to this event as it was a success,” Rezin posted on Facebook

Rezin and her team were also at the Grundy County Agricultural Fair earlier this month.

“The 2022 Grundy County Ag Fair was marked as a success in my books!” Rezin wrote in a July 5 Facebook post. "Thank you to those who helped organize and stopped to chat with us at my booth!”

The website Marijuana Moment recently reported a senate committee is debating a bill that would protect job applicants from discrimination based on testing positive for marijuana use.

Rezin said businesses are struggling to find applicants who do not test positive for marijuana.

“I often hear too, in our area, from employers, [that] it’s hard to get good people to work for us because they’ve got marijuana in their system,” she said, according to Marijuana Moment. “I just want to make sure there’s a process in place…that everybody agrees to and understands.”

She also attended June’s 19th annual Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run ceremony in Marseilles.

"It was an honor to speak at the 19th Annual Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run ceremony for the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial in Marseilles," Rezin wrote.

Shaw Local reported Rezin recently appeared with Rep. Lance Yednock (D-Ottawa) at the Legislative Luncheon hosted by the Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce in LaSalle.

When asked about education, Rezin said she wants to keep Illinois high school students in the state instead of heading to an out-of-state institution.

“We have to make sure that those colleges quit poaching our best and brightest from our schools because that’s what’s happening,” Rezin said, according to Shaw Local. “They are coming to our schools and they’re offering free tuition for, you know, the top 20% of the class. So that’s one thing.”

She also recently gave a shoutout to a local teen participating in the 74th annual National High School Finals Rodeo Bull Riding and Light Rifle competition from July 17 to 23 in Gillette, Wyo.
