In an Aug. 29 Facebook post, Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) announced her choice for small business of the month.
“This month I've chosen to highlight New York City Deli as the small business of the month! They have been in business for two years serving the 79th District with gourmet sandwiches," Haas posted. "I recently had the opportunity to visit the Deli, meet with the owners, Michael and Kristi Panozzo, present them with a special certificate of recognition from the State of Illinois ... and eat a delicious sandwich! I encourage everyone to check it out: New York City Deli is located off Convent Street in Bourbonnais: 1190 N Convent St."
Haas also linked to her newsletter where she explained more about the business.
“This is a great local spot in our community and deserves the recognition for their time here the past two years,” Haas said. “Our local businesses make our community what it is, and it’s important to recognize them and make sure they know just how much they are appreciated for the business they bring and the sense of community they help cultivate.”
The menu includes a variety of cold and hot sandwiches, like the hot BBQ Special, the Big New Yorker, and a Honey Maple Turkey sandwich to name a few. There are also sides and snacks available. The restaurant is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and closed on Sunday.
