Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Winnicki, aged 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Serenity Estates in Morris. Born on March 30, 1934, in Chicago to Anna Fleischacker and Stanley Chebney, Dorothy married Joe Winnicki in 1953, sharing 39 years of marriage together. They raised their children in Gardner and Marseilles, enjoying polka dancing, running a concession stand, and occasionally working as wedding DJs. They shared a love for Christmas traditions and the outdoors, including camping and fishing.
Dorothy had a nurturing and determined spirit, adoring animals and spending time with her German Shepherds and horse, Flicka. An enthusiastic crafter, she enjoyed painting and attending craft shows.
She is survived by her children Linda Langager, Kathleen Zelinko, and Chad Winnicki, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, son Ronald Winnicki, and brother Daniel Chebney.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City, officiated by Father Josh Miller. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
