B. Clerk’s Report

Kay Olson told the committee that vote by mail applications were sent out. (33,593); to date received back over 6,000. Ballots to be mailed out on 9/24. She also update the committee on the election grants. IVRS Grant -$25,000, HAVA Elections Security Grant – $15,300, CARES Grant – $70,702, Postage Grant – $22,515.

B. Assessor Report

Deb Ritke told the committee that her office is busy responding to the public regarding the letter that went out with the tax bills and updated the committee on her office’s plan to process the certificates of error (325 to date) and get them to the Treasurer by August 17th. The target date for publishing 2020 assessment notices is September 1st.

Lori Werden, Treasurer, added that the first tax distribution was made on 7/31 in the amount of $28 million, which is 17.5% of the 32% collected.

Dave Ostrander told the committee that he has been assisting the Assessor with farmland counts, working with Land Use for online permit submissions and Highway Dept. for online culvert inspections.

1. Resolution Supporting a Five Year, 50% Property Tax Abatement for Procter & Gamble

Nancy Norton, GEDC, discussed the tax abatement for Procter & Gamble Company that will be constructing a 1 million sq. ft. Logistics Facility to be completed by 7/2022. The project’s total investment is $128,000,000. The committee voted to positively recommend the resolution supporting the abatement to the County Board.
