On Tuesday, April 1, former Coal City High School standout Payton Hutchings’ current college team, the Illinois Fighting Illini, won 8-2 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Illinois State Redbirds.

The game took place at Illinois Field. This was their first matchup against the Redbirds this season.

The Fighting Illini’s next game is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at 9:05 a.m. at Illinois Field against Maryland Terrapins.
