Village of Channahon Board of Trustees met February 5.

Village of Channahon Board of Trustees met March 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Village President Missey Moorman Schumacher and Student Council President Louis Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. and Mr. Don Johnson, father of Student Council President Louis Johnson, led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call was taken with Trustees Greco, Host, Perinar, McMillin, Scaggs and Slocum present.

Student Council Members Pettigrew, Diaz, Flannagan, Shields, Conroy, dela Cruz, Johnston and Roots were present.

Also present were Village Administrator Thomas Durkin, Director of Community Development and Information Systems Mike Petrick, Finance Director Heather Wagonblott, Director of Public Works Ed Dolezal, Chief of Police Shane Casey, Village Attorney David Silverman and Village Clerk Kristin Hall.

VP Moorman Schumacher informed everyone present that the meeting was being recorded and anyone speaking at the meeting deems his/her consent to the recording of their likeness and speech.

D. Approve Payment of Bills List of February 5, 2018 for $439,171.23 

E. Approve Payment of Net Payroll Expenses for the two week period ending January 14, 2018 for $111,131.55 F. Approve Payment of Net Payroll Expenses for the two week period ending January 28, 2018 for $109,395.22

Trustee Greco made a motion to approve the consent agenda as read. Seconded by Trustee Perinar.

REPORTS & COMMUNICATIONS FROM VILLAGE OFFICIALS

A. VILLAGE PRESIDENT

A Resolution to Recognize and Support Job Shadowing Day at the Village of Channahon Student Council President Louis Johnson read the Resolution.

Trustee Slocum made a motion to approve a Resolution to Recognize and Support Job Shadowing Day at the Village of Channahon. Seconded by Trustee Perinar.

AYES: Greco, Host, Pettigrew, Conroy, McMillin, Perinar, Diaz, dela Cruz, Flannagan, Roots, Scaggs, Slocum, Johnston and Shields.

NAYS: NONE

B. VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR Durkin stated there were no formal items.

C. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & INFORMATION Petrick reminded the Board that the Planning and Zoning Commission Regular Meeting, Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Channahon Municipal Building at 6:00 p.m. He stated that they are short 4 for the quorum, so most likely that meeting will be postponed until March.

D. FINANCE DEPARTMENT Wagonblott stated there were no formal items.

E. POLICE DEPARTMENT Student Council Ambassador Timothy Flannagan stated there were no formal items but he wanted to let everyone know about a couple of important events. The assessors for the police department will be here on February 20 and 21 and there will be a block of time set aside for the community to comment on any issues either by phone or in-person, when the date and time is known an announcement will be made.

Mr. Flannagan also stated that the promotional testing has been finished for the initial Sergeant eligibility list, as required by State Statute, qualified personnel will have until February 13th, at which point the final scores will be calculated and the eligibility list finalized for the next two years. He also reminded everyone to be careful walking to their cars and traveling home.

Student Council President Louis Johnson reminded everyone of the Pink Heals 4th Annual Mother’s Day Walk on Sunday, May 13th.

F. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Replacement of Heating Unit at the Wastewater Treatment Plant Trustee McMillin made a motion to approve the Replacement of Heating Unit at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Seconded by Trustee Greco.

AYES: Greco, Host, Pettigrew, Conroy, McMillin, Perinar, Diaz, dela Cruz, Flannagan, Roots, Scaggs, Slocum, Johnston and Shields.

NAYS: NONE

Resolution to Enter into an Agreement to Treat Tank Wash Water Trustee Slocum made a motion to approve to Enter into an Agreement to Treat Tank Wash Water. Seconded by Trustee Scaggs.

G. VILLAGE ATTORNEY Attorney David Silverman stated he had nothing to report.

COMMITTEE REPORTS Trustee Sam Greco - Finance/Human Resources – No report.

Trustee Patricia Perinar – Community & Legislative Affairs Trustee Perinar thanked students for coming in and Mr. Martin for a great job as student council leader. She hopes that they continue to stay involved in our community.

Trustee Chantal Host – Public Safety/Emergency Support Trustee Host reminded everyone that Chief Casey and VP Moorman Schumacher would be participating in the celebrity bartender event tomorrow from 5-9 p.m. at Dock Rotz in Minooka. She stated that all the tips form the event will be donated to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties. She also stated that the Police Department received the new data gathering sign and they hope to have it out within the next few days.

Trustee Scott McMillin – Public Works and Facility – No Report.

Trustee Mark Scaggs – Community Development – No Report.

Trustee Scott Slocum – Technology/Community Image/Code Enforcement Trustee Slocum stated if anyone has any questions about the I-80 meeting at JJC, to grab him and he would be happy to discuss. He stated it’s a million dollar project that will create a lot of problems as well.

EXECUTIVE SESSION Trustee Slocum made a motion to open Executive Session at 6:48 p.m. for Appointment, Employment, Dismissal, Compensation, Discipline and Performance of an Employee of the Village of Channahon and Probable or Imminent Litigation and Pending Litigation. Seconded by Trustee Greco.

ROLL CALL

AYES: Greco, Host, Perinar, McMillin, Scaggs and Slocum.

NAYS: NONE MOTION CARRIED

Trustee Perinar made a motion to close Executive Session at 7:05 p.m. for Appointment, Employment, Dismissal, Compensation, Discipline and Performance of an Employee of the Village of Channahon and Probable or Imminent Litigation and Pending Litigation. Seconded by Trustee Greco.

ROLL CALL

AYES: Greco, Host, Perinar, McMillin, Scaggs and Slocum.

NAYS: NONE MOTION CARRIED

ADJOURNMENT Trustee Perinar made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 p.m. Seconded by Trustee Scaggs.
