DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 2: NRC Proposes $7,250 Civil Penalty to Michigan VHS Harper-Hutzel Hospital

Penaltymoney

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has proposed a $7,250 fine to VHS Harper-Hutzel

Hospital, Inc., for violations of the agency’s security requirements.

NRC inspectors identified apparent security violations at the company’s facility in Detroit

during a routine inspection in March of this year. The NRC determined that the problem constitutes a

Severity Level III violation. The details of the violations are not publicly available due to their securityrelated

nature.

NRC inspectors verified before leaving the facility that the company has taken immediate steps

to address the issue. The NRC will conduct a follow-up inspection to verify independently that

additional actions proposed by the company to address the reasons for the violations are sufficient to

prevent recurrence.

The NRC’s letter to the company will be available on the NRC website under accession number

ML18250A214.
