DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 2: NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 issued the following announcement on Sept. 20.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Kevin Pusateri as the

new resident inspector at the Prairie Island nuclear power plant, located in

Welch, Minn., 28 miles southeast of Minneapolis. Prairie Island is operated by

Northern States Power Co.-Minnesota.

Pusateri joined the NRC in 2015 as a reactor engineer in Region III. He

has completed several rotational assignments at the Palisades, Fermi and

Monticello nuclear power plants. Prior to joining the agency, he was a merchant

mariner and worked as a shift test engineer on nuclear aircraft carriers at a

shipyard in Virginia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering

systems design from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident

inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Pusateri joins NRC senior resident inspector

Lucas Haeg at the Prairie Island facility.
