Coal City Schools will be participating in the IL 5Essentials Survey for the 2018-19 school year.  The IL 5Essentials Survey provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring five “essentials” critical for school success:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environment
  • Ambitious Instruction
Starting this year, the 5Essentials Survey will be required annually by the IL State Board of Education for all schools.

Unit District #1 teachers and students will be participating in the 5Essentials Survey in the next few weeks.  In addition, we ask Coal City parents to please take a moment and complete the survey for your child's school.  You may take the survey for each school that your children attend.  Coal City Schools will need 20% of parents to participate in the survey in order to receive data on the survey.  The 5 Essentials Survey is now open though Friday, January 18

The results of the 5 Essentials Survey will provide our schools with information to continue providing a positive learning experience for the students of Coal City.

Thank you for your continued support of Coal City Unit District #1.
