Illinois Education Association Minooka Region issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.
Statement from Morton Education Association President Tony Feleccia in response to School Board President Thomas Neely’s opening comments at the Morton Community Unit School District 709 School Board meeting on Tues., Dec. 4.
“The Morton school district passed judgment on Mr. Jeff Neavor and unjustly demoted him based on nothing more than salacious gossip and rumors related to Mr. Neavor’s marital status. What’s worse is Mr. Neavor’s demotion came after he already accepted responsibility for his actions and was disciplined by the district for having a consensual relationship with a woman he supervised. The district’s actions are not only entirely unacceptable they come at the detriment of students, Mr. Neavor and the community as a whole.
