City of Sterling issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
1:23 pm - UPDATE - Route 2 is now open.
12:43 pm - UPDATE: Route 2 will be closed for 2 more hours for clean up of the fuel spill. Those coming from the west trying to access businesses in the Wal Mart area will need to travel Freeport Rd to Holly Rd to Polo Rd.
EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE: Route 2 is currently closed between 45th Street and Lynn Blvd, in both directions, due to a fuel spill from a semi. Traffic from the east should reroute to Palmyra Road to Holly Road to Freeport Road. Unknown at this time when Route 2 will reopen. Will advise on fb as soon as it opens.
