ILLINOIS EDUCATION ASSOCIATION MINOOKA REGION: Joint statement from the Morton Education Association and the Morton School District No. 709

Statement

Illinois Education Association Minooka Region issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.

The Morton Education Association (MEA) and the Morton School District No. 709 have released the following joint statement:

“Morton School District No. 709 and the Morton Education Association met today in arbitration and agreed to put their differences aside in an effort to do what’s best for Morton students and the community.

There will be no disciplinary action taken against Jeff Neavor. Additionally, the district and MEA mutually agreed that Neavor will continue teaching at Morton High School, among other duties. The details of his role have not been finalized yet, but will include assisting with the transition and orientation of the new high school band director.

We are putting this situation behind us and moving forward together. To maintain the focus on the students, we’ve decided this will be the last statement on the band director position and related matters. We are pleased to have this matter resolved.”
