Coal City Community Unit School District 1 issued the following announcement on Jan. 10.
Students in Mrs. Haab’s Kindergarten class began 2019 by writing something they would like to accomplish this year.
Some of their thoughtful responses included, “Tie my shoes”, “Learn to count to 100”, “Play games and be a good sport”, and “Learn to do math”. I’m sure they’ll work hard and reach all those goals! We also had some phonics fun our first week back to school by performing VOWEL SURGERY! The words were ‘broken’ and students needed to repair them by choosing the right vowel letter to make the word match the picture. Students had to keep careful records on their word patients in their notebooks. We’re happy to report that all the words made a speedy recovery, thanks to our hard work and dedication to learning! 2019 is going to be a great year in Kindergarten!
