Coal City Community Unit School District 1 issued the following announcement on Jan. 18.
Health class is off to a fast start! The students have been learning about the skeletal system to start the quarter!
After the skeletal system students will then delve into the Muscular System, Digestive System, Circulatory System, Respiratory System, and the Nervous System. After each week students will be tested over the functions and common parts of each system. The ultimate goal is for students to have a better understanding of how the body works so they will appreciate it more. The last unit of the quarter students will learn about Tobacco use and all the negative effects associated with it.
In Physical Education the students have been participating in fitness activities such as: tabata, circuits, jogging, walking and other activities designed to get their heart rate up. Next week students will start a square dance unit. During the dance unit students will learn common calls associated with square dance. Students will also review over important social skills while performing these dances. At the end of the unit students will be given a written exam as well as a skills test.
