Coal City Community Unit School District 1 issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.
This week in 1st grade we have been talking about the earth and sky.
We have spent several days talking about how the sun rises and sets, what is in the sky, and the different phases of the moon. One of our favorite activities was learning about how the sun creates shadows on the moon. We used a lamp (the sun) and a ball to show how when the moon moves it creates different shadows. We then took play dough and showed the different phases of the moon throughout the month.
