Kay Olson told the committee there were only 1600 returned voter registration cards from the mass mailing. She also said that petition packets are being picked up for the March primary election.

George Gray reviewed the departmental revenues and expenditures; all in line with budget.

IX. New/Old Business

A. Annual Review of Incentive Compliance

Nancy Norton, GEDC, attended to report on the compliance of the companies with tax rebates/abatements. A meeting has been scheduled to discuss one company that is not in compliance with the number of employees hired. A recommendation will be brought back to the October meeting.

B. Cannabis Taxes and Revenues

The committee discussed the two separate sales taxes that may be established by the County for sales conducted in licensed cannabis businesses. However, due to the County not yet determining the legality of cannabis sales in unincorporated Grundy County, the committee can only consider the rate for sales within a municipality. The committee agreed to recommend the maximum sales tax rate of 0.75% on cannabis related sales conducted within a municipality.

2. Motion to recommend to the County Board for the sales tax rate on proceeds from municipally licensed cannabis businesses within Grundy County at the maximum rate permitted by law of 0.75%.
