Grundy County residents are being encouraged to turn out on Oct. 22 for a discussion on the upcoming update of the Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Grundy County Board Room located at 1320 Union Street in Morris, the forum will be hosted by Grundy County officials with the discussion focusing on updates to the plan first enacted in 2013.

University of Illinois Extension Community Development Educator Carrie McKillip, the lead facilitator on the plan update, told WSPYNews.com that she "hope to have a great turnout at the meeting so additional ideas can be generated to make Grundy County as safe as possible from natural hazards.”

McKillip added that the county has already completed 55 percent of the plan activities included in the previous plan.

Those seeking more information can call Joe Schroeder with the Grundy County Emergency Management Agency at 815-941-3212.
