NEW EDUCATION BUSINESS

Principal DiNello commented that teacher evaluations will start this Wednesday. It is online similar to the state testing. MIT has met and has reviewed data from the assessments. The 5th grade went to Goose Lake Prairie on its first field trip. BLT met for the first time this school year, and they praised the efforts of the custodial staff over the summer break. Parents Club has already hosted a book fair and a Color Run so far this year. Principal DiNello said that he attended the Color Run and he thought it worked very well having it on a Friday evening. The Illinois Reading Conference is coming up the first week of October, and Mrs. Hunt and Mrs. Paulson will be attending from the Middle School. Mr. DiNello noted that the new science curriculum was up and going in the classroom and that the Middle School has completed all drills, such as fire, tornado, and intruder. During the intruder drill some of the A.L.I.C.E. training that was spoken about at the teacher institute was implemented. Baseball and softball have been completed for the school year, and girls’ basketball has just started.

Principal Hasselbring noted that September has been fairly quiet, and first quarter midterms have been completed. All drills have been successfully completed at the Elementary School also. The Young Rembrandt Art Program has started and has 11 students attending. The AR wall is getting full with 79/100 students represented. The new music teacher, Haley Woods, is getting the students ready for the first program of the year, the Veteran’s Day Program. Fire Prevention Week and Red Ribbon Week are both coming soon. Mrs. Hasselbring wanted to thank Parents Club for a great book fair again this year.

Superintendent Dillow told the board that there have already been between 60-70 requests for the temporary records that we advertised. She has been working on getting those ready for the previous students to pick up. Mrs. Dillow has also been looking into getting another vehicle for the school. Our current vehicles have many miles on them and have created more repair costs than usual in the past year. The vehicle would be used mostly for special education routes. Superintendent Dillow noted that Parents Club will be doing the fund raiser with the Morris Bakery again this year. Mrs. Dillow will also be checking into a new fire alarm system for the building.
