Coal City Public Library District Board met March 25.

President Lois Phillips called a Special Board Meeting to order on March 25, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
Purpose: To Discuss Employee Compensation and Annex Siding Update
Trustees present: Carol Crawford, Becky Sipple, Renee McLuckie, Lois Phillips, Steve Smith, and Debi Trotter.
Absent: Kris McPherson
Staff present: Jolene Franciskovich, Library Director
Leah Bill, Assistant Director
Public present: None
The Library Director and Assistant Director explained the impact the statewide “shelter in place” order had on the Library and its staff. On 3/23/2020, the Library had to completely close down due to this order, which left the staff without pay through no fault of their own.
Since that time, they have continued their work at home by bringing the Library to our patrons through various methods: online story times, exercise classes, creating a newsletter of virtual services, reading challenges, working closely with the school district to provide additional services, etc. They have also participated in online training to improve their own performances. The Library Director recommended the Board to consider paying the staff during the “stay in place” order.
Motion by Smith and seconded by McLuckie that the Board approve paying employees their scheduled hours beginning 3/23/2020 until the “shelter in place” order is removed.
Motion carried by roll call vote.
Ayes: Crawford, McLuckie, Sipple, Trotter, Phillips
Nays: None
Abstain: Smith
Absent: McPherson
Board members and staff toured the annex and outbuilding to view work that had been already completed by Clubb construction. Some additional work remains on the outbuilding, which will be completed and within the cost of the previous Board approval.
Motion by Smith and seconded by Trotter that the Board adjourn the 3/25/2020 Special Board Meeting.
Motion carried by roll call vote.
