Coal City Village Board met March 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

At 5 p.m. in the boardroom of the Village Hall, Mayor Terry. Halliday called to order the budget meeting of the Coal City Village Board. In attendance were Trustees Dave Togliatti, Ross Bradley, David Spesia, Tim Bradley and Sarah Beach. Absent was Dan Greggain. Also in attendance was Matt Fritz, village administrator, Public Works Supervisor, Darrell Olson, water/wastewater operator, Tyler Valiente and Police Chief Tom Best.

COVID-19

Chief Best gave an update regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated this was a "Creeping investigation", slow moving with info creeping out. Discussion:

• CDC updates daily

• Testing for the virus only when necessary

• Cleanliness & disinfecting work area Work related: Personal equipment adequate for now

Flexible policies regarding family & employee Dr. release slips to return to work waived Only foyer entrance P.D. will not assist with ambulance calls unless necessary More reports being taken via the phone Utilizing social media

Limited contact with private & commercial entitles

• George Hanson from the EMA has assisted when needed

• All bars & restaurants are closed-except for pick-up and delivery service of food

• Staggering shifts options

• Business incentive options & ideas

WATER & SEWER

Tyler Valiente reported on projects completed:

• Fourth Street lift station main electrical control panel replaced. Rebuilt conductors for blowers

• Sludge spreading-Steward Spreading-same price as last time the Village used them Other Discussion:

• Valve Exercise Program for preventative maintenance

Repairing fire hydrants rather than replacement Hiring of another maintenance employee Contribution to the Water Bond Reserve

PUBLIC WORKS

Darrell Olson reported on various projects in FY20 including:

• 2000 ft. of new & replaced sidewalk

• Overtime hours are down; less snowfall this winter i

Storm sewer repairs & extension projects

Parks upgrade

• Projects completed by contractors Upcoming projects scheduled for FY21

Tool cabinet purchase

Sidewalk improvements and the 50/50 project Expenses

2nd Avenue Storm Improvement Project Dump truck

Last & final payment for the Vactor Discussion

Job Completion software/GIS System ($500 per year per user) Motor Fuel Tax-South Broadway Reconstruction
