DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 2: NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Hope Creek Nuclear Power Plant

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 issued the following announcement on June 5.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa.,

have selected Dan Beacon as the new resident inspector at the

Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Station. The plant is operated by PSEG

Nuclear and is located in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J.

Beacon joined the agency at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Md.,

in 2014, and is a graduate of the NRC’s Nuclear Safety Professional

Development Program. He worked as an engineer in the headquarters

Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and most recently was a project

engineer in the Region I King of Prussia office. He earned bachelor’s and

master’s degrees in nuclear engineering from Penn State University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. Beacon

joins senior resident inspector Adam Ziedonis serving as the agency’s eyes and ears at Hope Creek,

conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and

the public.
