Illinois Education Association Minooka Region issued the following announcement on July 3.
WHAT: Community rally to support the New Berlin Education Association (NBEA)
WHEN: Thurs., July 2, 6 p.m.
WHERE: New Berlin High School (300 W. Ellis, New Berlin)
Community members, students, parents and teachers are expected to gather in support of New Berlin teachers. Former high school math teacher and baseball coach Joe Kindred was fired and another teacher was disciplined by the New Berlin Board of Education. The actions are retaliation against the two for union involvement including the union, NBEA, taking a vote of no confidence against former Superintendent Adam Ehrman.
Rallygoers are being asked to wear masks and to safely social distance per the Centers for Disease Control and Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines.
