University of Illinois System Senate Committee on University Student Life met April 3.

Ex officio: Danita Brown Young, Stephen Bryan, Connor Josellis
Absent: Payal Ahuja, Tiffany Bullard, Vada Gregory, Lynn Barnett Morris, Lauren Provencher, Kathy Martensen (ex officio)
A regular meeting of the Senate Committee on University Student Life was called to order at 10:00 am with Chair Alam presiding.
I. INTRODUCTIONS
No introductions were made.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the November 15, 2019 meeting was approved as distributed.
III. PUBLIC COMMENT
No requests received.
IV. CHAIR’S REMARKS
Chair Alam opened the meeting by asking committee members to share any information they had heard regarding concerns from students during the current pandemic.
V. VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS UPDATES (Brown Young)
Brown Young shared that most of the students have moved out of the residence halls.
For the students who were unable to leave, they will be moved into Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Hall (PAR) and Florida Avenue Residence Hall (PAR).
PAR and FAR will make sure that food will be individually served and that food pick up is safe for the residents. Brown Young shared that there are approximately 3,000 students in the residence halls, family housing and private apartments.
Brown Young shared that mental health providers are asking the Governor to allow practice across state lines which is not currently allowed. The Counseling Center is currently providing tele-health services to the students.
Brown Young shared that University of Illinois Police Department (UIPD) and the Student Assistance Center is checking on students. Emails have been sent to students University Student Life containing crisis hotline information and virtual work out information. Bryan is working with students who have technology needs.
Brown Young shared that students who were living in residence halls and have returned home will be receiving a partial refund. That will affect Student Affairs as they are funded by student fees.
VI. ISG PRESIDENT UPDATES (Josellis)
Josellis shared the following updates:
• ISG is looking adding mental health and sexual assault phone numbers to the iCard
• New ISG President has been elected
