Downtown Morris stores have reopened and are encouraging shoppers to return.
The city has reopened under Phase 4 of the State’s Restore Illinois plan. The Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Grundy Bank recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate.
"We just want to make sure the public knows that, even if they are self-isolating, they can still shop local," Chamber President & CEO Christina Van Yperen told the Morris Herald-News. "Even if they aren't confident about stepping into a local store, they should know that many of them are requiring customers to wear masks and to social distance while in the stores. Things are very safe in the downtown stores.”
Morris mayor Dick Kopczick knows it's been difficult for businesses as well as individuals and families. It's important to get the word out to locals that businesses are open again and need support from the shopping public, he told the Morris Herald-News.
The Morris public swimming pool has also reopened, hosting four first-come, first-served sessions daily with sanitation intervals in between. For more information, click here.
