Coal City Village Board met June 26.

At 9:00 a.m., Mayor Terry Halliday called to order the Public Hearing of the Coal City Village Board in the Boardroom of the Village Hall. In attendance remotely were Mayor Halliday, Trustees Dave Togliatti, Dave Spesia, Tim Bradley and Sarah Beach, Matt Fritz, village administrator and Don Bixby from Chamlin Engineering. Absent were Trustee Ross Bradley and Dan Greggain.
Mr. Fritz stated that the purpose of this Public Hearing is to present the Rebuild Illinois Public Infrastructure (RIBI) Grant Program. There is $25,000,000 total funds available with a maximum application of $5,000,000. The Village's local match will be $100,000 for the overall project request for the RIBI grant of $928,675. The RIBI grant is for public infrastructure· and financed through the sale of bonds. Co~I City is applying for improvements to the Village's sanitary sewer treatment plant. The SSTP provides utility service for all Coal City utility customers, including industrial, commercial and its residents including single-family, detached and multi-family housing.
Don Bixby from Chamlin Engineering described the Village's plans for improvements to the sanitary sewer treatment plant (SSTP). There will be a significant expansion of the SSTP in the future and the suggested improvements will be adequate for the future expansion. The two areas of improvements to the SSTP are:
1. SCREEN-where raw sewage enters the treatment plant. The screens are at the end of their useful life.
2. BLOWERS-largest single high energy equipment. The addition of two new Blowers will run the plant more efficient.
There was no Public Comment.
Spesia moved to adjourn the Public Hearing, second by Beach. Roll call-Ayes; Togliatti, Spesia, T. Bradley and Beach. Nays; none. Absent; R. Bradley and Greggain.
Motion carried and the Public Hearing was adjourned at 9:11 a.m.
