More than $600,000 in street repairs will be performed in Morris this year.

The Morris City Council approved the expenditure, WCSJ reported. Morris Mayor Dick Kopczick told the station that bids were lower than expected.

Crews will work on Calhoun Street, Pleasant Street, George Street, Wallace Avenue, Parklake Drive, Cambridge Drive, Thomas Drive, and a portion of DuPont Avenue.

The City Council also approved the annexation of property for possible development. An annexation agreement, two tax identification numbers and a zoning map amendment with Quail Investments LLC, were approved.

David Silverman with Quail Investments and Chris Dearth from Scott Belt and Associates, which serves as the law firm for the city, spoke in favor of the item.
