Minooka FD responds to 74 fires in 2018

Minooka Fire District responded to 336 calls in 2018 - 11.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Minooka included 74 fires - 39 structure fires, 14 vehicle fires and 21 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $832,650 in fire loss - or about $11,252 per fire.

The department also received 261 false calls, including two malicious calls and 259 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Minooka Fire District had an annual budget of $5,017,428 in 2017.

The Minooka FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 16 active employees and five retired or inactive employees, was $326,143 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,507 for every fire in 2017.
