Minooka Community High School District #111 Board of Education met Aug. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

The special meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. by President Mike Brozovich. The meeting was held by virtual means (Zoom and YouTube). Members of the public were welcome to attend remotely. Public comments were accepted via phone or email. A physical quorum was present with the following board members answering roll call:

There were no comments from the audience.

DISCUSSION – Resolution regarding child care

The board was presented with a resolution regarding child care. Mr. Troy reported that presently requests for child care concessions are being reviewed on a case-by-case basis and have been granted to allow some flexible scheduling when needed and able. Concessions could include early releases or full-day remote teaching.

Mr. Troy stated that there are two options for the proposed resolution. One option is for the resolution to include both concessions, meaning to include the full-day remote teaching option, and the other is to include only early releases for fourth block remote teaching. These concessions would be reviewed periodically, subject to being rescinded, and would be allowed until September 11, as hybrid learning is expected to begin on September 14.

Consensus was reached by the board to allow both accommodations, the early release for remote teaching of fourth block as well as the full-day remote teaching.

It was clarified that these accommodations are for child care needs and not for illness of an employee or other need to quarantine, so this would not preclude someone from coaching or sponsoring.
