University of Illinois System Senate Committee on University Student Life met Aug. 4.

I.CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Senate Committee on University Student Life (SL) was called to order at 10:30 am with Chair Alam presiding.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of the minutes of the July 6, 2020 meeting was deferred due to a lack of quorum.
III.PUBLIC COMMENT
No requests received.
IV. CHAIR’S REMARKS
Chair Alam thanked everyone for attending.
V. VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS UPDATES (Brown Young)
Brown Young shared the following information:
•Students will begin moving in on August 16.
•Students will check in at State Farm Center and receive their PPE kit and have their first COVID-19 test.
•Student must sign up for move in and will only be allowed two (2) guests to help them me in.
•New student convocation will be done virtually.
VI. ISGPRESIDENT UPDATES (Josellis)
Josellis was not in attendance.
VII.OLD BUSINESS
No discussion.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
EQ.20.04–Resolution on Racism
The committee discussed the resolution and will forward their comments to the Senate Committee on Equal Opportunity and Inclusion (EQ).
SL.20.13 – “I” Team
Bryan gave a presentation on “The I Team”, a student affairs initiative that will attend events on campus that have potential to be disruptive, interrupted, or lead to physical contact between parties due to conflict centered around freedom of speech.
