University of Illinois System Senate Committee on University Student Life met July 6.

A regular meeting of the Senate Committee on University Student Life was called to order at 3:00 pm with Chair Alam presiding.
I. INTRODUCTIONS
No introductions were made.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of the minutes of the May 1, 2020 meeting was deferred due to a lack of quorum.
III. PUBLIC COMMENT
No requests received.
IV. CHAIR’S REMARKS
Chair Alam thanked Kar for attending. Chair Alam shared that the committee will continue to discuss food insecurity and mental health next year as COVID 19 continues.
V. VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS UPDATES (Brown Young)
Brown Young shared that she is responding to parents, faculty, student and staff on how the University will enforce face coverings, social distancing and what classroom measurements are in place.
VI. ISG PRESIDENT UPDATES (Josellis)
Josellis was not in attendance.

SL.20.12, Letter from University Senates Conference dated June 25, 2020 to President Timothy Killeen regarding the George Floyd tragedy
Kar explained how the committee came up with the three questions in the letter and suggested that maybe the Senate Committee on Equal Opportunity and Inclusion (EQ) and the Senate Committee on University Student Life (SL) might want to work on a resolution.
