REMARKS FROM DEAN STEPHEN BRYAN

Dean Stephen Bryan shared that it has been a very busy summer. Dean Bryan met with Chair Adrienne Dixson and Collin Richmond about changing up the CCG meeting format for the 2020-21 AY in reviewing the code.

One idea is eliminating the line-by-line review of the code and be more task oriented. This would get members who are well versed in the code, in certain areas, to review those sections and bring back for full committee review; more group editing.

NEW BUSINESS

§1-111 Sexual Misconduct Policy

Danielle Morrison and Nizam Arain, co-chairs in the rewriting of the § 1-111 Sexual Misconduct Policy, submitted changes to the section for review. The changes are set on the federal law around sexual misconduct that are mandated to go into effect on Friday, August 14, 2020. After the review of the section, questions from the committee and minor edits, Dean Bryan asked for a motion to approve the policy. No objections and all approved.

§ 1-302 Rules of Conduct

Justin Brown submitted changes to § 1-302 Rules of Conduct (b)(c) as they related to the § 1-111 Sexual Misconduct Policy changes. These changes are mainly reference points in the code to the definitions listed in § 1-111. Additional edits were made to the definition of “Stalking” in 1-302.

After the committee reviewed, Meghan Hazen motioned to move to voting, Jim Shriner seconded. No objections and all approved.
