Grundy Area Vocational Center issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.
Introduction to Information Technology students have spent the start of the year building a computer from individual components up to what will eventually be a fully functional PC. So far, they have installed all of the components into the case and followed it up by checking BIOS settings. In the coming weeks, Windows will be installed to those computers, PSU voltages will be checked, virtualization software will be installed to run a Linux OS inside of their Windows OS. We have also explored new technology with the release of new AMD processors, new home devices from google and a new phone from Apple.
Cisco students (2nd year) have started the year by exploring the TCP/IP and OSI models, how they relate to each other and how data flows from an application to getting encapsulated and then sent over to another PC and the addressing that needs to take place. They have also been learning to configure network hardware in Cisco switches and routers.
