The Morris City Council recently approved the resignation of long-standing Building and Zoning Officer Bill Chesareck, according to WCSJ News.
“It’s a change that we are experiencing,” Morris Mayor Dick Kopczick said. “Good for him. Good for Bill. Good for William and good for everyone everyone involved. Just gonna be a change, but I would entertain approving or accepting the resignation of Bill Chesareck as the Billing and Zoning officer that would be effective officially on December 31, 2020.
Chesareck has served as the city’s Building and Zoning Officer for over 15 years. He notified the City Council of his intention to retire from his position and former city council member Bill Martin was appointed to the Building and Zoning Officer position last November.
“As I said it’s just a change and it’s sad," Kopczick added. "But it’s also a happy thing for everybody involved, for Billy moving forward and for Bill moving into his next chapter."
Chesareck thanked the council for their help.
“I look forward to it guys," Chesareck said referring to his retirement. "Thanks everybody, it’s been a wonderful trip. I had a lot of help. Thank you."
Bill Martin has served the Morris City Council for 13 years, and his most recent position was 4th Ward Alderman, a position he previously resigned from last October.
