DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 2: NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at Quad Cities Nuclear Power Plant

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Christopher Hunt as the new senior resident inspector at the Quad

Cities nuclear power plant. The plant is operated by Exelon Generation Co., LLC., located in Cordova, Ill., 20 miles northeast

of Moline.

Hunt joined the agency in 2010 as a reactor technical reviewer in the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He

came to the Region III office as a reactor engineer in 2014. Most recently, he was the resident inspector at the Byron nuclear power

station in Byron, Ill. Prior to joining the agency, Hunt served six years as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s nuclear submarine force.

Hunt holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in engineering 

management from the Catholic University of America.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident

inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears

at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
