Illinois Education Association Minooka Region issued the following announcement on Feb. 17.
Today the College of DuPage Faculty Association (CODFA) announced its support for College of DuPage (COD) Board of Trustee (BOT) candidates Don Potoczny, Flo Appel, and Nick Howard.
The following statement is attributable to CODFA President David Goldberg:
“We truly believe Don Potoczny, Flo Appel, and Nick Howard are the best candidates for our students, our staff and our community, and that is why we are recommending them for the College of DuPage Board of Trustees. As faculty members, we use our voice to advocate for our students. It’s clear the concerns of faculty members are currently being marginalized at the expense of the institution. A shift on the board could bring our voices and our students the attention they deserve during board deliberations. Potoczny’s current role in public education as the Commandant of the Patton Leadership Academy in Chicago, extensive military command experience, and current position as the Chair of the DuPage County Philharmonic make him well qualified for the job. Appel’s career-long experience as faculty in higher education is invaluable to a trustee position. Howard’s experience as a long-time small business owner, adjunct faculty member, and DuPage County resident is exactly the skill set we need.”
CODFA represents 295 full-time COD faculty. COD serves more than 26,000 students.
