State Rep. David Allen Welter (R-Morris) appreciated Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s visit to Grundy County’s vaccination site.

“I don’t often agree with the Governor on policy and politics,” Welter posted on Facebook, “However, I’m grateful his administration has provided Grundy County with additional vaccines and the National Guard to help give them.”

Welter included a video of the governor's visit on his post.

Pritzker in his statement likewise thanked Welter and the the other hosts for inviting him to the site.

“Thank you for the amazing work that you’ve done over the course of the last year, truly to keep people safe here in Grundy,” he said.

Before turning the floor to Welter, the governor reminded everyone to keep safe. “That means mask-up, and keep your distance, and keep helping each other out. We’ll get to the other side of this soon enough.”

“Thank you and with that, I’d like to introduce someone who I have the pleasure of working with within the state government, and that’s your representative, David Welter.”

In response, Welter said, “Gov. Pritzker, thank you for coming to Grundy County today to tour our vaccination site. As a community, we appreciate the support of your administration and the National Guard to help us set up this site.

“We represent different political parties, but that’s not what today is all about. It’s not about my politics or your politics, it’s about our people.”

He said it was all about their “shared commitment.”

Welter stated that the community has asked for this and said, “You delivered, governor.”
