DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 2: NRC Names New Resident Inspector at the Columbia Generating Station

Inspector

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 issued the following announcement on May. 19.

The NRC has selected Amber Donley as the new resident inspector at the Columbia Generating Station near Richland, Washington. Donley joined the NRC in 2020.

Previously, she worked at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania as a radiochemist. She holds a doctorate in analytical radiochemistry from Washington State University and a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan.

“Amber’s extensive background and training will help the NRC ensure the continued safe operation of the Columbia Generating Station,” said NRC Region IV Administrator Scott Morris. “She is a great addition to our onsite inspection team.”

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. Donley joins senior resident inspector Nick Hernandez.

They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
