McDonough County Board Elms/Building and Grounds Committee Met May 11.

The Elms/Building and Grounds Committee met at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members in attendance included, Chair Larry Aurelio, Vice Chair Terra Lithchfield, Mike Cox, Cindi Helling, Deckle McLean, and Marcia Twaddle. Members absent were Dave Cortelyou and Travis Hiel. Others in attendance included Thomas Lowe, County Board Chair Scott Schwerer, Elms Administrator Tim Bledsoe, Patrick Stout and Committee Secretary Stacey Alexander.
Chair Larry Aurelio called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review and Approval of April 13, 2021 Minutes
Member Cox moved with a second by Member Litchfield to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Farm Report
County Chair Scott Schwerer informed the Committee that “It’s wet out there”.
Administrator’s Report
Census is at 63, with 9 being Medicare, 29 being Medicaid and, 19 private pay. Medicare currently owes $269,495.42. There were 9 admissions and, 6 discharges.
Financial Report
Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Helling to approve the April 2021 Financial Reports. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Elms Claims
Member McLean moved with a second by Member Cox to approve the Elm’s claims as submitted. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 6 yeas, 0 nays, 0 vacant and 2 absent.
Macomb Public Building Commission
Thomas Lowe informed the Committee that the Zahren building might be getting new windows.
McDonough County Maintenance Directors Report
Thomas Lowe gave the report. Lowe informed the Committee that they are removing a wall at the Jail for new women’s cells. Lowe also stated that the new lights are going in around the Courthouse, and the sidewalk issue on the north east sidewalk quote is from Steve Schmidt for $450.00. This is to come out of the liability fund. Lowe also informed the Committee they had received a bid from Arnold Brothers for $15,540.00 to install a ductless split system to Courtroom 202. Judge Benson and Sheriff Nicholas Petitgout asked the county to pay for this and, it has been referred to the Finance Committee. Thomas also informed the Committee they are going to replace a four foot piece of the wall in the Victim Services office. They will have to take everything down to the brick and, have someone clean up the mold and replace the flooring. Due to the Safety issue this is to come out of the liability fund.
Building and Grounds Claims
Member Twaddle moved with a second by Member Helling to approve the April Building and Grounds Claims. Motion carried on a voice vote.

County Board Chair Comments
County Chair Schwerer reminded the Committee that the Reapportionment hearing is at 5:30pm on Wednesday, May 12th.

Member Cox moved with a second by Member McLean to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
