Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers issued the following announcement on Sept. 3
Due to the increased incidence of COVID-19 in the community, Morris Hospital has announced that it is changing its Corn Fest 5K Run previously scheduled for September 25 to a virtual event. The Youth Fun Run has been cancelled.
Those participating in the Corn Fest 5K Virtual will run or walk a 5K course or route of their choice anytime during the week of September 25-October 2. After completing the 5K, participants will submit their time online following instructions provided at the time of registration. Race results will be posted online after October 2. Awards will not be issued due to course variation.
Registration for the Corn Fest 5K Virtual is $20 per person and includes a short sleeve running shirt available in unisex adult sizes only. The last day to register is September 19.
Participants can pick up their race packet and shirt on Tuesday, September 21, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. or Thursday, September 23, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the former Shabbona School, 725 School St., Morris, entering door 18 on the south side of the building. Race packets can also be picked up on Saturday, September 25, from 8-9:30 a.m. at Morris Elementary School, 2001 Dupont Ave., Morris.
A map of the Corn Fest 5K course is available on the registration website for those who would like to use the traditional course that starts in front of Morris Grade School and winds through a residential neighborhood. The course will not be closed to traffic or marked in any way.
