Nurse Practitioner Joins Morris Hospital Cardiology Practice

31

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers issued the following announcement on Sept. 16

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has expanded its cardiology services with the addition of a board-certified nurse practitioner.

Alyssa Dearth, F.N.P.-B.C., has joined cardiologists Dr. Syed Ahmed, Dr. Mary Gordon and Dr. Athar Saeed with the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists. She works closely with all three doctors and sees patients out of the practice’s Morris and Channahon offices, increasing patient access for all providers. She assists in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders including heart disease, blood pressure management, heart failure, circulation problems of the lower extremity, cholesterol management and more.

“All three doctors are very hard working and very passionate about what they do,” Dearth says. “Together, we are just trying to improve the health of the community as best we can.”

Bringing more than 13 years of nursing experience, Dearth has a diverse background in cardiac electrophysiology, interventional radiology and neurology. She worked for seven years as an advanced practice nurse in cardiac electrophysiology and gained specialized knowledge in pacemakers, defibrillators, arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation and atrial flutters. Dearth acquired her master’s degree in nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, and she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lakeview College of Nursing in Charleston, IL. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Born in Winfield and raised in Lombard, Dearth moved to Morris with her husband about two years ago. It wasn’t long before she became a fan of the local hospital.

“I’ve had some experiences here at Morris Hospital with my children, which have been wonderful,” Dearth says. “I just knew that I wanted to work for the organization. So when this popped up, it was the perfect opportunity.”

The Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists has four convenient locations, including offices at 27240 W. Saxony Dr. in Channahon, 101 S. Prairie Ave. in Dwight, 151 W. High St. in Morris, and 1300 Starfire Dr. in Ottawa.
