On Nov. 11, 2021 Illinois State Rep. David Welter (R-Morris) saluted his grandfather for Veteran's Day.

"On this Veterans Day we remember those who served and those who continue to serve our country. This is my grandfather Daniel David Welter around 1940. Grandpa served his country honorably in the United States Army," Welter wrote in a Nov. 11 tweet.

In October, Welter got a glimpse of what police in the Village of Oswego do on a typical night. Illinois Valley Times reported that he completed a ride along and and was full of praise afterwards for Oswego officers.

“Enjoyed my time riding with Officer Novy tonight,” Welter tweeted. “We should all be grateful for the men and women serving and protecting our community.”

After the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act was signed into law, Welter spoke on what he thought held up the bill.

"This bill should have been passed much sooner than it was," Welter told the Kendall County Times. "We experienced some extremely frustrating delays because Democrats shut Republicans out of the process. We fought to make sure the voices of our constituents were being heard and that the needs of our community were being considered at each step, but the Democratic legislators were not as collaborative as they should have been."

On Sept. 13, the bill passed the state Senate in a 37-17 vote and was signed into law by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker two days later.

Chicago Sun Times reports that the legislation provides approximately $700 million over five years to Exelon nuclear plants and will require municipal coal firing plants to decrease emissions by 45%.

Kendall County Times reported that Welter opened a second district office in Yorkville this year, the only legislative office located in Kendall County.

“I am proud to have the only legislative office in Kendall County to serve local families and taxpayers at a convenient location,” Welter said. “I welcome you to stop by to share your feedback on legislation or state issues in general, or if you need assistance with a state agency or program. My staff and I look forward to serving you in the heart of Kendall County.”
