Effective February 22, hospitalized patients at Morris Hospital will be permitted 2 visitors at a time, age 18 or older. The announcement comes as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to decline at Morris Hospital and throughout the region.
Inpatients had been limited to 1 designated patient representative/visitor for the duration of their inpatient since December 22 when COVID hospitalizations at Morris Hospital were at an all-time high. Over the past weekend, Morris Hospital reported having no hospitalized COVID patients for the first time since July 23, 2021.
In order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, everyone entering Morris Hospital or any of its facilities will continue to have their temperature checked, answer screening questions about any current symptoms, and apply hand sanitizer. Masks will continue to be required at all Morris Hospital facilities regardless of vaccine status per Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations for healthcare settings.
Visiting hours for 2 South, 2 East, and the Family Birthing Suites will remain 11 a.m.-7 p.m., with visiting hours for the ICU remaining 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
In addition to having 2 visitors at a time during visiting hours, patients in the Family Birthing Suites may have a support person/significant other 24 hours around the clock. Siblings of newborn babies are permitted to visit regardless of their age.
Visitors will continue to be prohibited for hospitalized patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Special visiting arrangements may be requested for COVID patients age 17 and younger, patients with an intellectual and/or developmental disability that impairs understanding, judgment and decision-making, and patients who have reached end of life.
Patients coming to the hospital for outpatient surgery, endoscopy, cath lab and other procedures will continue to be limited to 1 support person age 18 or older.
As has always been the hospital’s visiting policy, anyone currently showing signs of illness should not visit or accompany a patient.
