In a Facebook post highlighting a rainy spring, Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) encouraged Illinois residents to have flood insurance.

"Spring has sprung & it's raining through the State. Be prepared! Get coverage: http://FloodSmart.gov Visit Ready for safety tips: http://ready.gov/floods," Rezin posted.

2022 Flood Safety week was March 14-18. Illinois Emergency Management offers these tips to residents who should be thinking about flood safety issues during the spring and summer: Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters; turn around, don't drown; stay off bridges over fast-moving water; just six inches of water can knock you down; one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away; update your family communications plan; build an emergency preparedness kit; know the differences between flood watches, flood advisories, and flood warnings.

In a March 26 Facebook post, Rezin shared a graphic that reminded constituents to know the difference between flood watches and flood warnings. A flood watch tells people to be prepared and monitor sky conditions, whereas a flood warning means people should take shelter and seek further information.
