Illinois State Rep. David Welter (R-Morris) recently encouraged Morris residents to sign up for an April 21 blood drive event.

His announcement came on the heels of a successful blood drive in Yorkville on April 14.

"Thank you to all of the donors that came out to our Blood Drive in Yorkville yesterday," Welter wrote in an April 14 Facebook post. "We had a great turnout. We still have time slots available for the Blood Drive in Morris on April 21. Hope to see you there!"

According to a March press release from Welter's office, the event was held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 at Welter's District Office in Morris: 1715 N. Division St., Suite E.

“For every one person that donates blood, three lives are saved,” said Welter in a March news release announcing the event. “We have seen the incredible things this community will do for each other over the past two years and this is just one more way we can continue to do that, and in this case, help save lives.”

Constituents who have questions can contact Welter’s district office at (815) 416-1475.

There is a need for whole blood and double red, according to the Versiti Blood Center of Illinois. Individuals interested in donating blood can schedule an appointment online.
