City of Vienna City Council met June 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT:

Steve Penrod, Mayor

Angela Moore, Alderman

Richard Owen, Alderman

Austin Tuey, Alderman

Alan Racey, Alderman

Ron Pitts, Alderman

Melissa Hill, Alderman

Shane Racey, City Supt

Mary Harris, Admin. Asst. (for Clerk Wright)

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS ABSENT:

Jim Miller, Police Chief

Michelle Meyers, Treasurer

Aleatha Wright, City Clerk

GUESTS

None present.

There being a quorum, Mayor Penrod called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the May 18, 2022 council meeting minutes and the Warrant ($27,809.64). Alderman Moore seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

Alderman Hill made a motion to Authorize and Approve Resolution 22-05, A Resolution to commit funds and apply for a grant to complete a major infrastructure project within the City of Vienna. Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

Mayor Penrod reviewed the revised estimate of maintenance cost-$126,761.00 for 2022 MFT with the council.

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS

City Superintendent Shane Racey reported the new pressure wand on the pumper truck works excellent and is much quicker.

Alderman Pitts mentioned that if the people needing Community Service Hours need hours, the small park between the Fire Department and Route 146 needs cleaned up. The railings at the Library need painted also.

Mayor Penrod reported that the fireworks on July 2nd we are ready to go. It will be advertised in the newspaper. It would be great if a couple of food vendors could be scheduled for that evening.

Mayor Penrod also read an email that was received from Jose & Toni Pineiro. They were traveling through the area when their car broke down. A local couple, Jessee and Callie Goines, pulled up to ask if they needed help and proceeded to assist them in not only getting their travel trailer to a point where it could be moved, but also leading them to a local repair shop. Mr Pineiro expressed heartfelt thanks for these Good Samaritans.

Mayor Penrod mentioned that bids will be opened for culverts and street oil and chip on 6/14 for the 2022 MFT work.

As there was no further business to discuss, Alderman Moore made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Owen. Mayor Penrod adjourned the meeting at 7:13 p.m.
