V. Animal Control Report

1. April AC Reports

There were no questions or comments regarding the reports submitted.

Melissa discussed the number of animals currently in the facility and the numbers for May thus far. She stated that May had been quite a busy month to date. She stated that the number of cases had increased significantly over the prior month.

Melissa stated that she and Shea Gavin had attended the Animal Control Training hosted by the Illinois Animal Control Association on May 9th.

Melissa let the committee know that Animal Control was fully staffed, the part time position has been filled.

Melissa also discussed the new truck that was in the CIP to be purchased this year. She stated that with the unexpected rising prices of vehicles the amount allocated in the CIP would not be sufficient to purchase the new truck. The truck to be replaced is a 2008. The committee voted to move to finance with the higher amount needed to purchase the new truck.

XV. Fuel Usage and Overtime

1. Fuel Usage Report

Eric Gibson noted that fuel usage is currently at 45% for the fiscal year. This is right on track for the budget.

2. Overtime Report

Eric Gibson noted that overtime is sitting at 61% for the fiscal year. He stated that this will go up as some overtime is being used for maintenance workers to complete ditch cleaning work.

XVI. Highway New Business

A. Resolution for Improvement Under Illinois Highway Code Brisbin Road - $2,620,000 Motor Fuel Tax

1. Resolution for Brisbin Rd MFT

Eric Gibson requested the Resolution for Improvement for the Brisbin Road project to allocate $2,620,000 of motor fuel tax money to be referred to the County Board.

Eric Gibson requested the Resolution for Improvement for the Brisbin Road project to allocate $360,000 of federal aid matching money to be referred to the County Board.

XVII. Highway Old Business

1. Ridge Road Update

Eric Gibson noted that the 48 hour closure for Ridge Road scheduled for May 20 - 22 had been cancelled due to inclement weather. The next projected closure is scheduled for June 10 - 12.

2. Brisbin Road Update

Eric Gibson noted that ComEd is scheduled to start doing the pole relocation in June for the Brisbin Road project. Anticipating a June 23rd Letting date. Looking at roadway project to be completed this year. The bridge project will go into next year.

3. Grand Ridge Bridge Update

Grand Ridge Road Bridge at Tynan will be shut down from 5/23/22 to 6/6/22, depending on weather, to complete Bridge work.

4. No Signs on County Highway Signs

Eric made mention that the Highway Department is coming across signs (i.e. garage sale, house for sale, etc) posted on the Highway Road signs. This is illegal and they will be pulled down as they are found. He asked the board members and the public to spread the word that this is not allowed.
