Gardner-South Wilmington High School #73 Board of Education met June 15

Gardner-South Wilmington High School #73 Board of Education met June 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

PUBLIC COMMENT: 

None at tonight’s meeting. 

BUILDING AND GROUNDS REPORT: Mr. Josh DeLong discussed the following: 

● Parking Lot Update: The front sidewalk is being torn out this week. Then the concrete sidewalk area will be poured next week, along with blacktop being poured on the entire parking lot area. 

● Boiler Update: Korellis System Control will be installing a brand new back-up boiler. We will also be getting a new control module with that system. This will be done in the Fall. 

● Summer Work Update: Painting is in progress, room changes are taking place and new floor tile will be put in the main office, teachers’ work room, board room and Principal’s office. 

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: Mr. DeLong presented on the following: 

● School Board Conference – Board members were asked to let Mrs. Sue Avery know if they plan to attend the Conference being held in Chicago in November. 

● Next year’s Levy figures: The Levy will bring in 1.8 million dollars. The tax rate will be $2.57 

● Football agreement: Mr. DeLong will look into a written agreement between GSW and Dwight for the new football co-op. As of now, the Dwight bus is transporting our GSW students to and from Dwight for summer weight lifting training. There are currently 3 students participating. Hopefully there will be more students when the season officially begins. 

● Student parking spots – the new parking lot will be lined, but we will not be numbering the spots. GSW will no longer charge students for individual parking spots. The students will be allowed to park in any spots in either the West or South student parking lot areas. 

● Thank you – Mr. DeLong again thanked the board members and stated he enjoyed his 3-years of being Supt. at GSW High School. 

BOE MEMBERS REPORTS: 

None this month. 

ACTION ITEMS : 

● Consolidated District Title 1 Plan for 2022-2023 

● Property/Casualty Insurance Renewal 

● Workman’s Compensation Insurance Renewal 

● Approve Resolution abating the Working Cash Fund to the Transportation Fund of $150,000 

● Approve Rodosky Accounting as payroll vendor 

● Approve Michelle Scaccia as Freshman Class Sponsor 

● Approve the First Reading of press Plus 109 

● Destruction of Closed Session audio recordings 18-months and older 

● Opening of Board of Education Closed Session minutes from January 2022 – May 2022 

● Accept the bid from Korellis System Control to install a new boiler at $44,830. 

● Authorize the payment of July 2022 bills 

● Authorize employment of new staff for (2022-2023) 

● Approve the Resolution providing for the issue of General Obligation School Bonds, Series 2022, of the District, for the purpose of increasing the Working Cash Fund of the District, providing for the Levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest on said bonds, and authorizing the sale of said bonds to the purchaser thereof.
