Maine Township Recognizes American Pharmacists Month & Hosts Vaccination Event

Maine Township proudly recognizes National Pharmacists Month and encourages all residents to get their seasonal flu and COVID-19 boosters if they so choose!

Pharmacists have played a pivotal role in the fight against the pandemic ranging from the frontlines of administering vaccines to the back laboratory, aiding in the race to create a groundbreaking MRNA COVID -19 vaccine.

Here in Maine Township, residents rely on their local pharmacy and pharmacists to provide them with the correct medication and dosage. To particular vulnerable and elderly residents, a pharmacist is a lifeline.

In the spirit of this month, the Township is hosting a COVID-19 vaccination booster and seasonal flu vaccine clinic on Friday, October 28 from 10 a.m. – noon at the Maine Township Town Hall at 1700 Ballard Rd. in Park Ridge. This is a walk-in clinic and no pre-registration is required. Those who receive a vaccine will receive a one-time coupon for 10% off their shopping bill at Jewel-Osco!

The flu vaccine is available for all persons 12 years of age or older. The COVID-19 booster is available for all persons 12 years of age or older who previously completed a COVID-19 vaccine series. There will also be a high-dose flu vaccine available for those 65 years of age or older. The Township previously partnered with Jewel-Osco for vaccine events for adults and children.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends participants bring their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record card with them when they receive a booster shot so the provider can fill in the information about the booster dose.

The Township encourages people who have lingering questions or concerns over the safety or efficacy of vaccines to reach out to their primary care provider for guidance.

Residents can call the Township at 847-297-2510 ext. 281 with questions.
